Startbahn, Zenport, WOVN, SmartNews, Mercari, and HENNGE have all opened new positions for software developers. None of them require any Japanese language ability, and all support overseas candidates looking to relocate to Japan.

Startbahn, which has developed a sustainable and scalable blockchain infrastructure that assures the reliability, authenticity, and traceability of artworks, is hiring a Technical Lead and Frontend Developer. Neither of these positions require any knowledge about blockchain or cryptocurrency, though they’re looking for someone with an interest in that domain.

Zenport, a startup building the open platform of global supply chain management, has opened a position for a Frontend Developer. In this position you’ll be building a new application using React while gradually migrating an existing one.

WOVN, a website localization service, is recruiting a Localize Solution Engineer. In this position, you’ll be building APIs and plugins to integrate language switching into their customers’ websites, meaning you’ll touch a wide variety of languages. If you’re someone who wants to dabble in languages as diverse as Ruby, Rust, PHP, Java, and C#, this could be great for you. They’re also still recruiting Mobile, Frontend, Go, and Swift engineers.

SmartNews, a news app with 20 million monthly active users in the U.S. and Japan, has opened a Security Engineer position. In the position, your responsibilities will include supporting shift left security, executing proactive threat modeling, and coordinating their response procedures during active product security incidents. They also have existing positions for Frontend, Backend, Platform Infrastructure, Android, and Test engineers.

Mercari has just established a subsidiary Merlogi which provides logistics services, and is working to build a package pickup distribution network to improve the experience for Mercari’s more than 20 million monthly users. For this, they’ve opened positions for Backend, Flutter, and React engineers, along with Engineering Managers. Additionally, Mercari has seven other open positions, covering a wide range of skillsets.

HENNGE, a cloud security service, has opened a remote internship position. While this is an unpaid training program, from talking to a previous intern, it does sound like a great learning opportunity. Other positions at HENNGE include Junior, Front-end, Go, and Python engineers.
