About the position

Givery aims to provide the missing link that our clients need to scout, hire, and train world-class engineers. We are profitable, privately owned, and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Our clients include some of the biggest names in the Japanese tech and gaming industry. We have a diverse team from all corners of the world, and we are looking for a skilled Engineering Manager to help us expand Track, a platform that helps companies evaluate and train technical engineering skills.

The ideal candidate will have a robust engineering background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects. This role requires a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and experienced leader with a technical background. Responsibilities

  • Support your team as a servant leader.
  • Evaluate team and individual performance, and provide feedback and mentoring to promote professional growth.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new engineering talent.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, stakeholders, and designers to align goals and deliverables.
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies, plans, and roadmaps aligned with the company vision and objectives.
  • Oversee design, development, and testing to meet quality standards, best practices, and customer requirements.
  • Manage resources and project timelines.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes and tools for increased efficiency, quality, and overall productivity.
  • Collaborate with other managers to ensure alignment of goals and objectives across teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role and at least 5 direct reports.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a culturally diverse team.
  • A proven track record of managing successful projects.
  • Solid understanding of engineering best practices, methodologies, and tools, including Agile/Scrum, automated testing, CI/CD, etc.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in recruitment, talent management, and evaluation of engineers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Conversational level proficiency in Japanese.

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Experience building products and services from zero to launch.
  • Experience maintaining live applications at scale in a production environment.
  • Current fluency in Typescript, Scala, React, NestJS, or Play Framework

Compensation

8 to 12 million JPY annually.
