About HDE

HDE is a leading cloud security provider, with their flagship product HDE One having more than 3 million users. Over 15% of their 180 employees are non-Japanese, and they are looking to increase their global talent, both by hiring full time engineers, and by providing internships for university students and recent grads. As their official language is English, no Japanese ability is required.

HDE's founder is highly technical, and so it has a strong developer culture. About the position

HDE offers a 6-8 week internship that offers the unique opportunity to gain invaluable personal and professional development while working hand-in-hand with their Cloud Product Development engineers. You will experience practical application development using Python and Go, and develop applications by using Amazon Web Services/Google App Engine.

Qualifications

  • At least third year of University or fresh graduates with BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related area of study major
  • Experienced in systems software or algorithms
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux environment
  • Basic proficiency with Python or Go
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP and network programming
  • Those interested in seeking a career in Japan will be at a significant advantage.

Application instructions

  1. Send an email to hde@tokyodev.com with the subject "Global Intern" and attaching a resume.
  2. You'll be sent an email containing a link to an online programming challenge which you can complete at your leisure.
  3. If you pass the programming challenge and resume screening, then we hde will notify you to schedule an interview. This can be done either via skype or face-to-face.
  4. For interns, once you pass the interview, you'll be elligible to join the internship.
    For full time hires, once you pass the interview, you'll be required to complete a two week trial before joining. HDE will cover the cost of your flights to Japan, and provide a basic stipend to cover accomidations and living costs, but it will otherwise be unpaid.
