About the position

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code across the entire stack.
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to implement new features and user-facing applications.
  • Adapt to and utilize proprietary, in-house data protocols and specialized internal design patterns.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate these problems.
  • Maintain strict standards for code quality, testing, and automation.

Requirements

  • Backend: Professional experience developing and maintaining web applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • Frontend: Professional experience building responsive user interfaces using React.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, relational databases, and state management.
  • Experience integrating front-end components with back-end APIs.
  • AI Tooling
    • Demonstrated proficiency in integrating modern AI development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) into the daily workflow to maximize development velocity.
    • A disciplined approach to AI utilization: leveraging tools for efficiency while maintaining full ownership of code quality, architectural integrity, and security.

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Hands-on experience training AI models (distinct from utilizing pre-trained model APIs or developer tool interfaces).

Compensation

¥8,000,000 ~ ¥12,000,000 annually.

Hiring Process

  1. 1

    Application Review

    We will review and respond to all applications. If we feel you might be a good fit for our team, you’ll start our interview process.

  2. 2

    Initial Interview

    A 60 minute interview with one or two of our engineers. We’ll talk about your experiences, our team and projects, and answer any questions you might have. We will also spend some time working through a programming question or two, ranging from algorithms to code design.

  3. 3

    Project

    We’ll ask you to complete a short project (less than a day’s work) based on the work you’d be doing on our team. You may use whichever language and framework you like. The details of the project will also be discussed in the initial interview and if we plan to proceed with your application we will send you the details in a follow up email.

  4. 4

    Project Discussion Interview

    We will meet again after you have submitted your project and it has been reviewed by the team. We will discuss what you did and potentially discuss more about the role and your experiences again, time permitting.

  5. 5

    Final Interview with Corporate Management

    We will meet one last time with a member from the wider DMM Group to discuss integrating into the DMM company culture.

  6. 6

    Offer

    After the project discussion we will quickly make a decision about whether to extend an offer or not.
