Are you a developer who wants to do more than write code? Would you rather talk to customers than be handed a spec to implement? Want to work out of Tokyo with a small but global team? Reaktor might be a good match for you.
Reaktor helps established businesses think and act like a startup by delivering end-to-end solutions and pro-active teams. We help our clients create innovative services, which means we get to have an exciting time in a fast-paced role.
We were founded in Helsinki back in 2000, and opened up our Tokyo office at end of 2013. We now have more clients wanting to work with us than we have development capacity, so we’re looking for developers to join our team here.
At Reaktor, we have a flat organization. You’ll have the freedom and responsibility to prioritize your own work, and contribute to projects not just as someone who writes code, but someone who helps customers find creative solutions to their problems. You’ll also be an integral part of developing our organization and ways of working in Japan.
As for programming languages, we think the right one depends on the job. We’ve recently used e.g. Java, Scala, Clojure, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, Haskell, Ruby, C, C++, and Objective-C. You should have some experience with a couple of these. Have another language you prefer? We’d love to hear more.
We’re also looking for polyglots when it comes to spoken languages. We use English for internal communication, but speak Japanese with some of our clients. So while you don’t need perfect Japanese, you’ll need enough skills to communicate with them.
Our team is a mix of people from Finland, Japan and the US. Be prepared to wear a coat once in a while - you’ll definitely need to fly to Finland sometimes, and it might be cold.
We’re also a big believer in supporting the community. Some of the things we’ve done recently, outside of software itself:
- World Programming Championships by Reaktor
- World-class Technology Conference by Reaktor
- Teaching Coding to kids 4-9 years old. For now in Finnish only, though. You could change that?
- Hands-on funding for technology start-ups
Come now - you must join us!
