About Spacely

Spacely Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Spacely Inc. is a startup pioneering the use of VR and spatial data to transform how people communicate, work, and explore the world. Our cloud-based platform, Spacely, enables anyone, regardless of technical background, to easily create, edit, and deploy 360° VR content for business applications.

About the position

As an R&D Engineer for our product “Spacely,” you will be responsible for technical validation, prototyping, and implementation of new features that leverage panoramic images and 3D-reconstructed spatial data, working closely with other team members throughout the process. While we expect you to take a leadership role as a manager, the current R&D team consists of only one member, so initially, your role will involve more hands-on development. As the team grows, your focus will gradually shift toward management responsibilities.

Depending on your career aspirations and interests, this position also has the potential to evolve into a CTO candidacy.

You will have the opportunity to propose and drive new product development initiatives by leveraging the existing assets and strong customer relationships built during the company’s growth. Your work will deliver value to over 10,000 users, ranging from industry-leading real estate firms to small and mid-sized businesses. This role also offers a clear path for career advancement, with the potential to take on broader responsibilities and high-impact missions that extend beyond the team, influencing the entire engineering organization and company alongside the CTO.

Responsibilities

  • Automating and improving the accuracy of 3D reconstruction processes based on images
  • Developing new features for the 3D player that displays reconstructed spaces, such as virtual furniture placement
  • Exploring the use of AI for placing furniture in 2D room images and generating images
  • Team management responsibilities, including one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations

Requirements

  • Experience in image processing or image recognition development
  • Experience or strong interest in 3DCG or machine learning development
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience or interest in team or project management

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Prior experience in team management
  • Experience developing 3DCG software using tools such as Unity
  • Experience in web front-end development using WebGL libraries such as Three.js
  • Experience in web service development (any language)
  • Development experience in TypeScript or Python
  • Experience working in a startup environment

Compensation

¥8,000,000 ~ ¥12,000,000 annually.
