This is a high-impact leadership role leading one of our Core Services engineering teams, responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and long-term evolution of services that underpin Treasure Data’s global platform.
This role is primarily focused on people leadership, team health, and execution excellence. While not expected to code daily, you are expected to bring strong technical judgment, architectural fluency, and delivery rigor to guide the team effectively.
Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of 4-7 software engineers in Japan, focusing on foundational platform services that power Treasure Data’s core product capabilities.

Develop team members’ communication, collaboration, and self-management skills through setting clear expectations, offering constructive feedback, and effectively managing challenging situations.

Establish engineering processes, planning discipline, and accountability within the team

Own end-to-end delivery of roadmap commitments, ensuring predictable, high-quality execution while balancing technical debt, reliability, and velocity

Contribute an experienced perspective to system design discussions, helping the team navigate tradeoffs and make sound technical decisions.

Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to translate company strategy into impactful Core Services initiatives

Requirements

Upper business / native level Japanese and English

8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with 3+ years in management

Ability to review architecture critically and guide engineers through design tradeoffs

Strong understanding of APIs, backend services, and reliability engineering principles

Proven track record of coaching and developing high-performing engineers and enabling them to achieve impactful outcomes

Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones in a global organization.
