About AI Mage

AI Mage Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

AI Mage builds AI tools for the anime industry. Its core product, AGI (Anime General Intelligence), is an "anime-obsessed AI" that helps studios, licensors, and supervisors stay aligned on a property's vision — so great anime reaches fans around the world faster than ever.

About the position

Anime IP value chains span rights, channels, overseas licensing, categories, and handoffs to production and marketing. We build AI products that make repetitive, error-prone, cross-functional work manageable, traceable, and scalable.

This is not a “code-only” role: you break down real business problems and ship solutions end to end—from architecture and data flow through full-stack implementation and iteration—with sustained interest in anime and IP commercialization. Strong preference for candidates who can show anime-related personal or side projects with real users and usage—not demos alone.

Responsibilities

  • Map pain points across IP commercialization (licensing, rights/compliance, categories/channels, production/marketing), turn them into product work, and articulate customer value.
  • With BizDev, translate customer needs into roadmaps and milestones; prioritize under constraints; deliver from alignment to release.
  • Own evolving core architecture and full-stack delivery with quality from requirements through release.
  • Run interviews, metrics, and feedback loops for measurable improvement.
  • As we grow, help run a small product team and transition from senior IC–led, hands-on phases—scope discussed in interviews.

Requirements

  • 5+ years shipping AI-related products 0→1 or 1→N (e.g., eng-led product, Tech Lead, full-stack; “AI” need not appear in your title).
  • AI-native delivery: iterate from model capabilities; use eval/data flywheels, prompting/tooling, and engineering—not AI layered on traditional software delivery alone.
  • Full-stack end to end: design/architecture, front and back end, deploy, iteration (stack in interview).
  • Interest in Japanese anime and IP business; comfortable with cross-region collaboration and licensing contexts.
  • Portfolio required: links, store pages, or repos—evidence of curiosity and shipping, not pedigree.
  • Validates ideas with experiments and feedback; moves from interest to adopted, valuable product.

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Beyond-intro ML, LLMs, or image understanding/generation.
  • 0→1 in startups or delivery under tight constraints.
  • English or Chinese for international product work.
  • PdM collaboration in platform or multi-product settings.

Compensation

¥6,000,000 ~ ¥10,000,000 annually.
