About the position

Money Forward aims to be the No. 1 back-office AI company in Japan, driving the evolution from DX to AX (AI Transformation). The AX Promotion Division leads internal productivity by developing solutions that combine AI and data, standardizing processes, and building knowledge bases.

The AI Solution Department is currently scaling with multiple concurrent projects. We are seeking a candidate for Department Manager to lead technical strategy, organizational growth, and production quality.

Mission

As a candidate for Department Manager of the AI Department, you will drive the following:

  • AI Solution Development & Operations Management: Formulate technical policies for internal AI solutions (knowledge search platforms, common tools, etc.) and lead team development and operations.
  • Establishment of Production Quality: Lead the transition from prototypes to production code and establish frameworks for architecture design, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Organizational Growth: Conduct hiring, development, and team building to scale the organization.

Tech Stack & Tools

  • AI/Backend: Python, various LLM APIs.
  • Infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • Frontend: React, TypeScript.
  • Tools: GitHub, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform Enterprise, Datadog, Sentry, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Asana.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and manage the technical roadmap for the AI Solution Department.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and operation of internal AI solutions.
  • Decide on PoC transitions and promote production-level coding.
  • Design production-level architecture (CI/CD, observability, security).
  • Hire, train, and evaluate team members (Goal setting, 1-on-1s, etc.).
  • Collaborate with data domain teams to provide cross-functional solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in developing and operating AI solutions (Generative AI, LLM, AI agents, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in architecture design, CI/CD, and observability for production-level systems.
  • Experience managing an engineering organization of 5+ members (including hiring and evaluation).
  • Experience in formulating technical roadmaps and building consensus with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Deep understanding and practical experience in software development.
  • Japanese: Business level (Fluent, able to communicate smoothly with various internal departments).
  • English: TOEIC 700+ or equivalent, capable of handling meetings and text communication in English from day one.

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Problem-solving experience in internal IT or Corporate Engineering contexts.
  • Practical experience with MLOps.
  • Experience scaling 0→1 prototypes to 1→10.
  • Experience collaborating with data platform or data analysis teams.

Compensation

¥10,008,000 ~ ¥15,000,000 annually.
