Tensor Energy is a technology startup on a mission to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. We help companies make the most out of their renewable energy assets, operationally and financially.
Founded in 2021, we’re a Fukuoka based company that’s raised ¥700 million to date. With 16 employees, our team is a mix of international and Japanese members.
Diversity
Our founders and team are highly diverse across language, religion, gender, social backgrounds, and age. Our common internal language is English, but you’ll find people speak Spanish, Japanese, German and French with each other. This goes for the engineering side as well as for the business side.
Diversity has been consistently described as one of our core strengths by the team and we’re working hard on nurturing this advantage. We firmly believe this is one of the factors contributing to our extremely low employee turnover (two people have left us in the last two and a half years).
Mission-driven
The number of startups in the renewable energy space is extremely limited to begin with, especially in Japan. We’re proud to be part of a small number of shops working on accelerating the energy transition. The way we’re doing this, is probably more tangible than you would see in other companies, as we are directly enabling our users to roll out powerplants and batteries at an accelerated rate. We are regularly taking our people out into the field to experience the results of their work first-hand.
Learning
Our business is highly complex in terms of industry structure, energy physics, energy economics, and regulation. That means, we need everyone, including the engineering team, to be aware of the wider context in which they are working. We’re giving all team members a solid foundation of knowledge and hands-on experience that we know will become a life-long asset for them.
