At THECOO, we're building Fanicon, an interactive fan community platform. Launched in December 2017, Fanicon is a subscription-based, premium fan community platform where fans can engage directly with their favorite artists and personalities. As of March 2022, Fanicon hosts over 2,300 communities and over 180,000 fans.

About the position

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems to handle growing data and traffic needs.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders (including product managers, engineer managers, and cross-functional teams) to understand business challenges and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation and excellence.
  • Take ownership of technical decisions and drive continuous improvements to our backend architecture.
  • Be proactive in identifying areas of improvement, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of our systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical experience in backend development (e.g., Java, Node.js, Python, Go) and system architecture.
  • Proven experience in designing and scaling backend systems in high-performance environments.
  • Expertise in cloud computing, microservices architecture, and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Solid experience with databases (SQL preferred), including performance optimization, data modeling, and scaling strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate in the face of business challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in leading and coaching teams, helping junior engineers develop their skills and careers.
  • Ability to take ownership of technical projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for continuous learning and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Business level Japanese and English

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Experience with distributed systems and high-traffic applications.
  • Experience handling systems with more than millions of users—expertise in scaling andmanaging systems to handle large user bases effectively.

Compensation

¥8,000,000 ~ ¥13,000,000 annually.
