About the position

We’re looking for a Back-End Engineer to champion our Shippio logistics engine. You will lead the design and implementation of new API features, ensuring our system is scalable, reliable, and strategically aligned with our ambitious business goals. Ruby on Rails, Redis, PostgreSQL, ORM, REST API, GraphQL, Datadog, Auth0, AWS (ALB, S3, ECS, Aurora, RDS, CDK, Lambda, Quicksight, Bedrock, Route 53), OpenTofu, Claude/AI, Docker, GitHub Actions, E2E, Playwright, LaunchDarkly

Responsibilities

  • Join our development team to enhance our advanced logistics platform.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to implement new features.
  • Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning and daily stand-ups.
  • Grow your skills through teamwork, brainstorming sessions, and code reviews.
  • Expand your knowledge in digital forwarding and logistics concepts.

Requirements

  • Extensive (5+ years) experience as a back-end engineer
  • Commitment to learn and master Ruby and Ruby on Rails (prior experience is not required)
  • Experience with SQL databases, DB modeling, and ORMs
  • Experience designing REST APIs or GraphQL endpoints
  • Strong grasp of security principles and best practices
  • Solid architectural understanding, data structures, and design patterns
  • Ability to autonomously manage tasks and create clear technical documentation

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Ability to quickly understand business requirements, and translate it into an appropriate architecture design
  • Basic communication skills in Japanese are welcome

Compensation

¥7,200,000 ~ ¥9,600,000 annually.
