About the position

  1. Build the core shippio product by extending our REST and GraphQL APIs with powerful new features.
  2. Elevate our engineering velocity by owning and dramatically improving our infrastructure, DevOps tooling, automation, and troubleshooting.

It’s a central, non-stop role designed for a seasoned engineer who loves to bridge the gap.

Teck Stack

We choose tech to make shipping easy and reliable. We achieve this through robust CI/CD, timely version updates, and technologies that scale:

Responsibilities

  • Enhance our CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions to ensure proactive issue resolution.
  • Extend our existing logistic platform architecture and system infrastructure
  • Act as an experienced leader to our team by reviewing code and mentoring juniors.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of programming experience as a back-end engineer
  • At least 2 years experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.) and DevOps
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g. GitHub Actions)
  • Familiarity containerization technologies (Docker) and its orchestration.
  • Solid architectural understanding (data structures, design patterns etc.)
  • Experience designing REST APIs or GraphQL endpoints
  • Experience with SQL databases, DB modeling, and ORMs
  • Commitment to learn and master Ruby and Ruby on Rails (prior experience is not required)

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Strong debugging skills and ability to isolate and resolve problems in production
  • As for Ruby, prior experience is not required, but since the majority of our backend is built on this technology, comfort with mastering a new language and framework is essential.
  • Ability to quickly understand business requirements, and translate it into an appropriate architecture design
  • Ability to autonomously manage tasks and create clear technical documentation
  • Basic communication skills in Japanese are welcome

Compensation

¥7,200,000 ~ ¥9,600,000 annually.
