VELDT is a Tokyo-based consumer technology company that develops IoT products, services, software, and data analytics technologies. Starting out in 2012 with a focus on wearable tech, VELDT continues to produce luxury hybrid smartwatches, while expanding its business into large IoT and data projects. We are currently working with a number of large partners, including CITIZEN WATCH, with whom we co-developed the Riiiver IoT platform.
In all of our projects, VELDT looks to innovate the way we interact with technology so that it can generate positive momentum for individuals, human society, and the global environment. The mission of VELDT is to create solutions that promote a “Life-Tech Rebalance.”
VELDT is headquartered in a small, cafe-style office near Cat Street in Omotesando, Shibuya. All positions offer the immediate opportunity to participate in a wide variety of projects at a very high level.
A mix of English and Japanese
Internally, we can use English to communicate. However, many of our partner company engineers work primarily in Japanese, and so we’re looking for some sort of Japanese ability. You don’t need to be fluent with Japanese though, and we welcome people still learning the language to apply. You should be able to read documentation in Japanese (with the support of machine translation is fine) and follow the conversation in engineering meetings (even if you aren’t an active particiant).
Our response to COVID-19
We were full remote during the emergency period (and of course would move back to that as necessary), and currently staff are invited to work 3 remote days per week on days of their choosing. Flexible office hours to support off-peak travel. Meetings with partner companies are almost exclusively online.
Considering the difficult international circumstances at this time, we are looking only for engineers already in Japan. For people already in the country, visa support is possible.
Our Hiring Process
Send in your resume, and if it seems to match what we’re looking for we’ll move right into setting up an interview or two. Most initial interviews are online, although you are welcome to come to the office as well, and we will likely ask you to make an in-person visit before a hire.
