We are looking for a talented IT Engineer / Systems Administrator based in Tokyo to join our growing team. This role will play a key part in supporting all company functions to deliver on our mission of providing products that shape the gaming and manga industries of the future.
In this role, you will team up with your colleagues based out of the Honolulu studio to establish and manage the reliability, security, and performance of KOMODO’s business-critical IT services locally and in the cloud.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for business needs and objectives through modern cloud-focused technology solutions spanning the following areas: collaboration systems, productivity applications, identity & access management, endpoint management tools, DNS management, and web hosting
- Solve escalated technical issues with both internal and external teams and business partners
- Implement and manage security solutions to protect our organization’s data, systems, and networks from cyber threats and unauthorized access
- Deploy, manage, and monitor dependable IT infrastructure on industry-standard cloud platforms
- Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and policies related to IT services, infrastructure, and solutions
- Contribute to planning and executing IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and expansions
- Engage and partner with vendors and service providers to provide us with great rates
Requirements
- Business level Japanese. You’ll be communicating both internally with Japanese speaking employees, and also with external vendors as the lead contact person.
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration, preferably in a fast-paced and cloud-focused IT environment
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and services (IAM, compute, storage, databases)
- Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, tools, and procedures
- Familiarity with version control (Git), scripting languages (Powershell, bash), and automation tools
- Excellent track record demonstrating organizational skills, multitasking adeptness, and initiative
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
