Mantra provides “Mantra Engine,” a cloud service for corporations specializing in manga translation. Beyond Mantra Engine as a SaaS solution, we also undertake various projects related to the overseas expansion of entertainment content with publishers, distributors, and other partners.
The B2B business development team currently consists of a small team of one full-time member and several contractors. As the team grows, we face new challenges: building a stable system capable of scaling and establishing robust development processes. We are seeking an engineer to lead Mantra’s B2B business development team.
Responsibilities
- Design, development, and operation of web services, including technical decision-making
- Management of the engineering team (approximately 4 members, primarily contractors)
- Building and managing development roadmaps based on business strategy and goals
- Improving development processes and eliminating technical debt to enhance productivity.
- Identifying user challenges and defining feature specifications based on user interviews and data analysis
- Lead development-focused projects (e.g., API specification discussions with clients)
Requirements
- Experience in designing backend APIs and database schemas for commercial services of a certain scale.
- Hands-on experience in implementing web services from frontend to backend.
- Experience leading the end-to-end development process of a service, from feature specification and implementation to testing and release.
- Conversational Japanese language skills. You’ll occasionally speak with our clients in Japanese, but we don’t expect you to be fully fluent in the language.
Nice to haves

- Experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead.
- Experience in designing, operating, and constructing backend and infrastructure for large-scale services.
- Experience in promoting agile development processes such as Scrum.
Compensation
¥6,000,000 ~ ¥10,000,000 annually.
