About the position

Money Forward provides a cloud service called Money Forward Cloud that solves various financial issues for businesses. Money Forward Cloud ERP in particular focuses on providing value for mid-sized to large enterprises.

About the ERP Cross-Functional Engineering Division

Money Forward has developed dozens of products over the past 10 years. This rapid development was possible because we tried various development strategies using different technology stacks in various locations. However, to deliver further value to our users, it has become necessary to unify these disparate approaches.

To address these challenges, the Cross-Functional Engineering Department was established in 2023. Our mission is to integrate Money Forward’s ERP products at a feature level, enhance collaboration amongst the ERP development teams, and to make development more efficient and streamlined across all ERP products.

Responsibilities

  • Build a community of architects across product teams
  • Provide department-wide architecture vision, strategy, and execution
  • Mentor other members in architecture
  • Contribute to the creation and review of technical specs/design for critical initiatives
  • Contribute to code review for all initiatives they’re involved with

Requirements

  • Architecture and systems design: distributed systems patterns, design of domain-oriented microservices, hands-on experience leading large-scale migration/refactor projects
  • Cloud and infrastructure: multi-account architecture, advanced VPC design, Infrastructure-as-Code mastery, cost optimization
  • API platform and connectivity: deep knowledge of API design, end-to-end API lifecycle ownership
  • Proficient in leveraging generative AI and advanced tooling to streamline workflows and accelerate delivery.
  • Product Mindset with strong ability to translate high-level product requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions in collaboration with Product Managers.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills to ensure clarity and alignment across distributed, cross-functional teams.

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Security and compliance: design and review of zero-trust architectures, practical compliance experience, secret management patterns
  • Observability and reliability engineering: implementation of tracing and logging across polyglot environments, definition of SLO/SLA frameworks, capacity planning and load testing
  • Leadership and influence: track record of coaching Staff/Principal Engineers and standardizing architecture, strong facilitation skills
  • Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.
    • Money Forward recently announced our AI Strategy roadmap which focuses on improving AI-driven operational efficiencies, as well as integrating AI agents into our products to deliver better value to our users.

¥10,008,000 ~ ¥16,008,000 annually.

Kostas Mavrikis left the Netherlands to join Money Forward in October 2023. As the first non-Japanese speaker in the Fukuoka office, he's been taking the initiative on Money Forward's Englishnization program, as well as introducing Kotlin, Scrumban, and European-style coffee meetings to his team.
