About Treasure Data

Treasure Data Minato-ku, Tokyo

Treasure Data is the only enterprise Customer Data Platform that harmonizes an organization’s data, insights, and engagement technology stacks to drive relevant, real-time customer experiences throughout the entire customer journey.

Key benefits

  • Highly Technical Founders
  • Globally distributed company
  • Open Source is in our DNA

About the position

The Ingestion team owns the mission-critical systems that serve as the front door to the Treasure Data platform. These systems must handle billions of events per day , absorb bursty and unpredictable traffic, and evolve safely as customer needs and scale grow.

At this level, Ingestion is not just about throughput—it is about long-term platform correctness, cost control, and architectural simplicity at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and evolution of large-scale ingestion architectures supporting multi-fold traffic growth

  • Own complex, cross-service initiatives that span multiple teams or domains

  • Anticipate scaling, reliability, and cost challenges before they impact customers

  • Set technical direction for major subsystems and influence broader platform architecture

  • Drive improvements in operational excellence, incident response, and system observability

  • Partner closely with engineering leadership, product, and customer-facing teams on strategic initiatives

  • Serve as a technical mentor and multiplier, elevating the skills and effectiveness of engineers across the organization

  • Participate in on-call rotations with a focus on systemic fixes rather than tactical responses

Requirements

  • Have 6+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Have led the design and operation of distributed systems handling high-volume, mission-critical workloads

  • Think in terms of system behavior, failure modes, and long-term tradeoffs—not just features

  • Are comfortable making and defending architectural decisions with significant business impact

  • Communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Are fluent in Kotlin/Java ecosystems and experienced with AWS-based architectures

  • Business-level English proficiency

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Deep experience with large-scale streaming platforms or ingestion pipelines

  • Experience driving platform evolution through multiple generations of scale

  • Proven ability to reduce infrastructure cost while increasing reliability

  • Experience influencing technical direction beyond a single team
