About the position

The mission of this role as an SDET is to improve the quality of Japan’s digital banking system.
In this position, you will be responsible for leading quality improvements and testing enhancements.

Team and Work Style

  • A joint project team of SMBC x Money Forward, operating as a small, high-performing team with rapid decision-making.
  • A global development environment with significant opportunities for English communication, as we engage in joint development with international teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead collaborative development, design reviews, and post-mortems with our international teams.
  • Define quality governance specific to the banking domain, including formalizing release criteria, severity definitions (Sev1-3), traceability requirements, and audit readiness protocols.
  • Review and improve existing API tests
  • Define test strategies for API testing and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of development experience
  • Holder of ISTQB (including JSTQB) Foundation Level certification or equivalent knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent knowledge
  • Experience leading a development team
  • Experience in formulating test plans and test strategies
  • Experience with code-based API testing tools such as RestAssured or Karate
  • English: Business level

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Experience in reviewing system architecture
  • Experience in improving testability
  • Understanding of testing techniques (ISTQB Advanced Level knowledge)
  • Japanese proficiency (N2 or higher)
  • Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.
  • Those who are interested in pioneering next-generation QA strategies, specifically centered around the Shift-Left approach.
  • Those who are motivated by the challenge of close, daily communication with international engineers and are eager to embrace a truly global QA methodology.
  • Those who thrive on tackling challenging, high-impact projects.
  • Those who are ready to innovate and define new quality assurance approaches, challenging conventional methods.
  • Those with a genuine interest in building social infrastructure, such as a digital bank.

Compensation

¥7,908,000 ~ ¥15,000,000 annually.
